The 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice opened today in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, where it is being hosted from September 26 to October 1, 2026. The event brings together broad international participation to address key issues and challenges related to crime prevention and the advancement of criminal justice.

The Congress was inaugurated by His Excellency Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice of the United Arab Emirates, in an international gathering that underscores the growing importance of international cooperation in combating crime in its various forms, strengthening the rule of law, and developing criminal justice systems.
 

The Congress brings together representatives of United Nations Member States, as well as experts, specialists, and international organizations, to discuss a range of issues related to crime prevention and criminal justice, while exchanging experiences and best practices in the field.
 

Abu Dhabi’s hosting of this UN event comes as part of the UAE’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation in the areas of the rule of law, combating crime, and supporting criminal justice, contributing to the development of safer and more stable societies.

The Congress will continue through October 1, 2026, with sessions and discussions addressing current challenges and future trends in crime prevention and criminal justice, with the participation of senior officials and experts from around the world.
