The Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal, in collaboration with the University of Khorfakkan, organized the “Legal Awareness and Community Empowerment” Forum today, Thursday, at the University of Khorfakkan, under the slogan “Law in Our Lives.” The forum aims to enhance legal awareness among community members and promote a culture of understanding legal rights and obligations, contributing to the development of a society that is well-informed about the laws and regulations governing various aspects of life.

The forum commenced with the UAE National Anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran and the opening remarks. This was followed by a speech on behalf of the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Professionals, delivered by Ms. Fatima Humaid Al Shara, Executive Director, emphasizing the importance of promoting legal awareness and strengthening cooperation between legal and academic institutions and the wider community.

The forum featured a panel discussion moderated by Legal Consultant / Azza Qudsi, addressing two key topics related to individuals’ legal rights and obligations and the challenges arising from rapid digital developments.

The first topic, presented by Lawyer / Mouza Masoud, addressed “Individuals’ Rights and Obligations in Transactions, Employment, and Family Matters.” The discussion highlighted the importance of individuals understanding their legal rights and duties in different aspects of daily life and developing the ability to address legal matters with awareness and responsibility.

The second topic, presented by Lawyer / Sabiha Salem Al Suraidi, focused on “Cybercrime, Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence, and Safe Engagement with Digital Platforms.” The discussion highlighted the importance of raising awareness of digital risks, protecting personal data, and using modern technologies and online platforms safely and responsibly.

On the sidelines of the forum, free legal consultations were made available to attendees, provided by Lawyers / Khadija Suhail, Nawal Al Badi, and Fatima Al Ali. This initiative aims to bring legal services closer to community members, provide access to legal guidance, and enhance their understanding of their rights and obligations.

The forum concluded with a ceremony honoring the speakers and partners, followed by a group photograph. The closing activities reaffirmed the importance of continuing initiatives that promote legal awareness, strengthen partnerships between legal and academic institutions, support community engagement, and foster respect for the rule of law.

The organization of this forum reflects the commitment of the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal and the University of Khorfakkan to supporting awareness initiatives that empower community members to understand their rights and obligations and keep pace with legal and technological developments. These efforts contribute to building a society with greater legal awareness and a stronger sense of social responsibility.
